Simulation wise however they have a long way to go if they want to compete. The vehicles in game are well detailed, and have excellent physics, beating out “Derail Valley” easily. This gives a unique feel to the game, really putting the player into the feel of the world and actually running a locomotive. No god view, no snapping from point to point. The player exists as it’s own entity, not tied down to a single point or train in the world and unable to see the world from any position other than their own. “Railroads -Online-!” goes for a first person perspective. If you drive the train, you are locked into a single position in the cab. Most train simulation games work on the over head layout concept, if you can build tracks, you build from an over head god view of terrain. Suited for arcade- and simulator friends alike! “Railroads -Online-!” and “Derail Valley” are in a sub genre of train sims that contain very few of their ilk. Railroads Online uses the advanced UnrealEngine physics system to achieve a very realistic railroading experience.
